This project seeks to link with the previous Ark project in the protection and presentation of Plymouths history. The project provides a place for physical redundant historical matter to enter and either be auctioned off and re-represented to the city, or re-purposed in the workshop. The proposition also provides a highly visible, and thus highly accountable, meeting place for a newly formed city architect and surveyors division, which will aim to oversee the responsible development of Plymouths future, conscious of the value historical matter has in the city.
The proposition comes as a response recent development in Plymouth, in which historical buildings, including scarce pre-war buildings, have been, or have been proposed to be demolished. The project aims to oversee the future of Plymouth with an accountable architects and surveyors division conscious of the past history of the city and the collective identity which is now becoming invisible.

Part elevation, part section instillation of the Darlington pod for the Plymouth University HOT '17 degree show.
The instillation consists of 67 laser cut plywood panels showing a part elevation, part sectional view of the pod and its major design move of the skylight and view of the stars in bed at night. The exhibition also consists of original models and drawings of the design process and construction of the structure.

Following the Field of Dreams design competition, the construction of the Darlington 'tiny house' eco pod. This follows the Dartington Trusts wider scheme to explore the tiny house movement and implement self builds on their estate.
The pod consists of a single floor with a split level bed facing towards the above skylight, this allows a user to 'star gaze' whilst in the bed. the below level features a living/study area where the log burner can be attended to.
The pod is clad with charred larch boards which echoes the camp fire and the idea of wood being employed for human use, whether for shelter, or fuel.
The pod acts as a primer for a wider scheme which the Dartington Estate is beginning to implement, which explores the idea of the tiny house movement. This fits with their ethos of
sustainable, socially aware typologies and schemes.

Preserving memory and records from the time before The Second World War and the subsequent Plymouth Blitz through the implementation of an oral archive and perpetually expanding archive shaft.
The project aims to preserve what is left of Plymouths pre-war records, historical matter, and memory, much of which was destroyed in the fires of the Blitz, through the implementation of an oral archive and archival shaft which expands to meet the influx of new records coming into the archive.
The oral archive initiative aims to store the memories of those that have directly experience both pre-war Plymouth, war time Plymouth and the subsequent reconstruction of the city under the Abercrombie Plan. Exploring the effects of the Plymouth Blitz and the destruction of the city, and how these stories, of a generation who soon won't be with us, can be perpetuated.
The project introduces the idea of perpetuation and preservation of both memory and physical matter, as well as exploring the effects of the loss of an entire cities fabric upon the identity and collective memory and knowledge of the population.

Submission to the Darlington Estate Field of dreams design competition for a prototype of a wider scheme of eco 'glamping' pods, built with locally sourced renewable materials and labour.
The pod looks to celebrate the use of wood as a sustainable, renewable material; together with its use for heating. The physical approach to the pod provides a glimpse of the use of wood in both aspects of being used for cladding and burnt for heating; the locally made burnt cedar mimicking the burning of the wood in the stove.
The creation of an angled skylight allows stargazing whilst in bed at night, and the pitch of the roof allowing the illumination of the seating area during the morning. The skylight is intended to face approximately South West to allow this. Subsequently the external deck seating area faces the setting sun, becoming a space used in the evening.

A scheme which employs the use of mussels to filter and purify the River Truro of mining contaminates, thus bringing new life and allowing the water way to be used again.
Garras Wharf since the 1960s has experienced a complete loss of marine industry around the immediate area of the waterway. As a symptom of this the river has ceased to be maintained and the build up of mud banks, caused by the erosion of tailing hills from the more northern tin, copper and zinc mines. Due to this harmful materials such as arsenic and iron oxide have entered the river, and through that, the ocean.
The introduction of mussels to the river hopes to provide an environmentally conscious un-obtrusive method of filtration. The building as a whole acts as a catalyst which facilitates the wider scheme which will eventually implant itself in rivers and water ways around Cornwall.
